XV Summer Diplomatic Games in “Zavidovo” Recreation Facility

On August 24, 2013, in the branch of GlavUpDK, XV Summer Diplomatic Games were held, which this year coincided with the Foundation Day of the Chief Department. Representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow, officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs f the Russian Federation and of GlavUpDK took part in the contests.

Summer Diplomatic Games were opened by the director of GlavUpDK V.I. Pashko, who welcomed the guests and participants of the contests and wished them best of luck. Also, the welcoming messages of the President of the Olympic Committee of the Russian Federation A.S. Zhukov, as well as of the governor of the Tver province A.V. Shevelev were read out. The chairman of the Sportsmen’s Association of Russia, three-time Olympic champion G.E. Gorokhova and chef referee of the competition, Olympic champion L.E. Titova have greeted GlavUpDK on 92^nd anniversary of foundation and particularly noted the contribution of organization in development of sport and healthy lifestyle among the foreign representatives and fellow citizens.

Referee’s board traditionally consisted of the outstanding national sportsmen – European, world and Olympic champions, who represented our country on the most prestigious sports forums. This year’s games program included such sports as race (cross-country race), football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, fishing, billiard, shooting and chess.

17 teams of diplomatic missions took part in the contests. The best were the representatives of the embassies of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Mongolia, Poland. The spectators could not only support their teams but also participate in the games in the framework of sports and recreation program “Interstarts”, or its kids’ version – “Ministarts”. Everyone could take a Volga river ride. After announcing the results, the audience was offered to attend the concert “Happy birthday, Chief Department!”
