XIV Winter Diplomatic Games in the “Moscow Country Club” branch

Closer and closer are XXII Winter Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, which will be held in the hospitable city of Sochi. The countdown is almost done, and it is just a matter of days until the Olympic cauldron is lit.

On January 25, 2014, the branch of GlavUpDK “Moscow Country Club” hosted an impressive and exiting sport event – XIV Winter Diplomatic Games under the slogan “Let the Sochi-2014 wins start!”. Over 600 diplomatic, administrative and engineering officers of the embassies of 43 countries, as well as the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and GlavUpDK met under their national flags, who, despite the 20-degree frost have brought their families and colleagues to Nabakhino town near Moscow to demonstrate their commitment to sport and healthy lifestyle and to enjoy the clean air and beautiful nature in the “Moscow Country Club” that was perfectly prepared for winter contests and recreation.

The sport event opening ceremony that was hosted by the Olympic champion, Honored Master of Sports L.E. Titova, was solemn.

The opening speech was given by deputy director of the GlavUpDK V.V. Kuznetsov, who has expressed his gratitude to the Olympic Committee of Russia for extensive support of diplomatic games, as well as to the Organizational Committee of Olympics “Sochi 2014” and personally to its preside dent D.N. Chernyshenko for support of diplomatic sport and provisions of the Olympic Torch, which recently participated in the Olympic Torch Relay and which all the participants and guests of the Diplomatic Games were happy to give a touch.

“Let’s support together all the sportsmen participating in XXII Olympic Games in Sochi, not just Russian but of all countries you represent, and let the best win!” -  spoke V.V. Kuznetsov to the participants, honored referees and guests.

It was followed by the welcoming speech of the Olympic Committee of Russia, in which the Committee has emphasized that this year the Diplomatic Games are held in the light of the world event – XXII Olympic Games in Sochi and has expressed its confidence in that they will also meet the Olympic principles of peace and cooperation and assist in reinforcing good relations between nations.

All participants of the Diplomatic Games demonstrated strong will, combative spirit and excellent fitness. Particularly valuable and significant are the wins and prize-winning places of the representatives of the embassies of Belarus (skiing, men; biathlon, women), Germany (biathlon, men), Slovakia (biathlon, women), Vietnam (table tennis, men; table tennis, women), China (table tennis, men), Slovenia (table tennis, women), Montenegro (football), Ukraine (football), Kirghizia (football), Mongolia (billiard), Kazakhstan (billiard), Lithuania (billiard), Tajikistan (billiard), Czech Republic (biathlon, teenagers under 15). Good work! Congratulations!

Audience, fans and kids also have had a lot of fun. They were offered an active recreation program.

The contests were followed by prize awards and joy from wins and participation in diplomatic sport event held on the eve of Olympics in Sochi.
