Traditional international chartable golf contest devoted to the International Children's Day
On May 31, 2013, the branch of GlavUpDK “Moscow Country Club” has hosted Traditional international chartable golf contest devoted to the International Children's Day. When opening the contest, director of GlavUpDK V.I. Pashko has noted that participation in this contest became a good tradition for the diplomatic corps, political and business entities and sport community. Golf harmonically combines with the honorable mission of the tournament – all funds raised from it are dedicated to the needs of the children, the director of GlavUpDK has emphasized.
The greeting message of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia S.V. Lavrov specified that “…the tournament allows to provide dedicated, specific support to those in need. During the time of its existence, hundreds of children experienced the care of the representatives of diplomatic corps and foreign companies, amateur sportsmen from many countries of the world. Thus, this contest makes a reasonable contribution to improvement of so much needed today atmosphere of solidarity and trust in the international affairs…”. On behalf of the legislative power, the greetings to the organizers, participants and visitors of the tournament were sent by the Fist Deputy of the Chairman of the Council of the Federation A.P. Torshin.
On behalf of the association of professional golf players, the welcome message was sent by the director of the European Senior Tour Mr. A. Stubbs, who noted that the tournament is a respectful beginning of the season, and it will continue with the Russian Open in the framework of the European Senior Tour of the Professional Golf Association, which is scheduled for 13 September. “Welcome to the land of Krasnogorsk!” – the governor of the region B.E. Rasskazov has greeted the visitors.
This year, 24 teams, four players each, participated in tournament. Traditionally, each team included a new golf player. The first place with the result of 53.75 was taken by the team consisting of A. Yarunin, G. Callegari, E. Coghill, and a junior A. Rogazinskaya. Second place (54.75) was awarded to the team consisting of A. Morzhevilov, E. Metropolskaya, A. Metropolsky and a junior A. Akushko. The bronze prize (55.37) was won by the team consisting of F. Zamudio, A. Biryukov, A. Lunegov and a junior A. Zhuchkov.
Diplomatic corps was represented at the tournament by the directors and officers of the diplomatic missions of Australia, Austria, Great Britain, Zimbabwe, Italy, Morocco, Mexico, France and Czech Republic. In the category “best ambassador player”, the first place was taken by the ambassador of Zimbabwe Boniface Guwa Britto Chidyausiku. The best diplomatic team was the team of the embassy of the Czech Republic. Several diplomats-golf players managed to finish in the first three strongest teams of the tournament.
The winners in the category “closest to the pin” were M. Rogazinskaya and M. Nader; the farthest drive was performed by N. Zarudnaya and K. Kozhevnikov.
In his speech given to the journalists on behalf of the organizers of the International Charity Tournament, deputy director of GlavUpDK V.V. Kuznetsov has thanked all participants, guests and sponsors of the tournament, and emphasized its highest priority – charity. When inviting all to attend “Moscow Country Club” in September, he told: “I would like to note that Traditional International Charitable Golf Tournament is a kind of full rehearsal of the Open Golf Championship of Russia in the framework of the “European Senior Tour” of the Professional Golf Association”…. And this is exceptionally important event from the point of view of development of golf in our country”. The main recipients of the raised funds were charity funds “The Gift of Life” (2 million roubles), which was represented at the tournament by actor M. Porechenkov, and “Trust” fund (500 thousand roubles) represented by actress N. Uvarova and ballet performer A. Liepa. Part of the funds was transferred to the administration of the Krasnogorsk region for equipping computer classes.
After the end of the tournament, a long-lasting tradition was continued – planting the trees on the Tournament Alley, which this year was added three young birches.
