The reception to celebrate National Unity Day held by GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia

The Main Administration for Service to the Diplomatic Corps held a reception for the heads of diplomatic missions of friendly countries to mark the National Unity Day.

The event was opened by Vyacheslav Fatin, Acting Head of GlavUpDK, who read out greetings from Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation. “Historically, Russia is not just a state, but a civilization, where dozens of different peoples, cultures, and religions live side by side, in peace and harmony. We are proud of this unity in diversity. We are ready to share our unique experience with foreign partners. Symbolically, the varied program of your evening includes the photo exhibition called Weddings of the Peoples of Russia reflecting the cultural diversity of our great Motherland. The modern Russian Federation is a country open to the world, famous for its cordiality and hospitality. We are always glad to see foreign guests. The cultural program opened with the performance by the Barynya song and dance ensemble inspired by examples of Russian culture: Smuglyanka, Kalinka, Moscow Nights and many other songs beloved by Russians and known abroad to the accompaniment of traditional folk instruments.

The reception was also dedicated to the culinary traditions of Russia and the gastronomic achievements of the Russian regions, which are carefully preserved by the participants of Food Map of Russia, the federal project by Ekaterina Shapovalova. Visitors tried dishes by the project participants who wrote the Recipes of Hospitality book published for the 100th anniversary of GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia.

Maxim Tarusin, the chef of the Voskhod restaurant offered the legendary kulebyaki, Zinyata Akbasheva, brand chef of the FermA confectionery chain (St. Petersburg) - shu buns. Guests also tasted pies from the Moscow restaurant RUSKI, Ossetian pies from the family bakery ASSA and Balkar khychin from Madina Dekkusheva and Fatima Dekkusheva (I Want Khychin Project).

The presentation of regional specialties continued with Baltic sprat from Maxim Tkachev’s Baltic Cuisine project and Arctic cuisine from the owners of the Teribersky Bereg tourist complex, Yulia Biksaleyeva and Sergey Biksaleyev (Murmansk Region). Ham from the Tambov Region, dried goose from the Republic of Tatarstan and dried deer meat from the Altai Republic complemented the gastronomic picture. Supported by the government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, a tasting of Arctic delicacies was held.

In the White Hall of the Reception House, visitors saw the works of the international scientific and ethnographic project, Weddings of the Peoples of the World: Cultural Heritage, by Denis Knyazev, a photographer, member of the Russian Geographical Society. The photo exhibition told its visitors about the wedding ceremonies of the Zaonezhans, Maris, Nenets and Udmurts.
