An international golf tournament for professionals and amateurs took place at the Moscow Country Club, an affiliate of GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia, on July 4.

The event was part of the Moscow Golf Tournament initiated by the Moscow City Golf Federation and organized with the support of GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia, the French Embassy in Russia, and PJSC Renault Russia.

The event was timed to coincide with the 300th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and France. “This is the first full-value international tournament in the history of the Moscow Golf Federation held together with French colleagues with the support of GlavUpDK. I have no doubt that this initiative will become regular,” Moscow City Government Minister, Head of the Moscow City Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations, and President of the Moscow City Golf Federation Sergey Cheremin said.

The tournament was held on the 18-hole championship golf course. Eighty golf players, among them representatives of diplomatic missions from various countries accredited in Moscow, officials, and corporate and banking executives, were fighting for the cup. A golf clinic – an introductory lesson by experienced instructors – was offered to the attention of guests inexperienced in the game of golf.

The tournament featured two sets of awards in two groups: the first group with a handicap index of 16.0 or less, and the second group with a handicap index of 16.1 or more amongst men and women.
