The Moscow Country Club, a branch of GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia, hosted the 2nd MGIMO Rector Cup Golf Tournament on May 26.  University alumni, students, partners and friends and members of the foreign diplomatic corps stationed in Russia gathered on the countryside location to play golf and congratulate the Endowment on the 10th anniversary. The tournament was organized by the MGIMO Alumni Association, the Endowment Fund and GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia with the support of MGIMO partners: FIDE, S.A. Ricci and Forward.

The brightest and most active students, winners of the Endowment grant contests of various years, took part in the MGIMO Rector Cup Golf Tournament this year for the first time ever.

While the golf players were enjoying the game, chess fans had a chance to play with international grand chess master, member of the French national Olympic team V.I. Tkachyov.

In his greetings to the winners, MGIMO Rector A.V. Torkunov said that the University was raising people successful not only in their profession but also in many other spheres, including sports. “This is the second MGIMO Cup Golf Tournament. I am sure that we will preserve this tradition for years to come!” Anatoly Torkunov said. The rector expressed his profound gratitude for helping organize the tournament to GlavUpDK under the FMA of Russia and, personally, to GlavUpDK head A.Yu. Izotov, a MGIMO graduate always supportive of his alma mater.

In turn, Izotov congratulated the winners and said that the doors of the Moscow Country Club were always opened to guests. “Over 24 years of its existence, the club has hosted a great number of prestigious international tournaments, including those with the participation of the world’s professional golf stars and the diplomatic corps accredited in Russia. Hopefully, the MGIMO Rector Cup Golf Tournament, which has acquired the traditional status, will continue to be held on the field of the GlavUpDK branch, the Moscow Country Club,” Izotov said.
