The traditional International Winter Charity Bazaar took place at the Radisson Slavyanskaya Hotel last weekend. The event was organized by the International Women’s Club uniting representatives of 110 countries, among them female ambassadors, and spouses of ambassadors and members of diplomatic missions in Russia. GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia rendered organizational support to the Bazaar.
The Club President and spouse of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mrs. Gopa Chokroborty, opened the International Winter Charity Bazaar. She thanked all partners, including GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia, which assisted in the event.
The Bazaar’s special guest, First Deputy Chairperson of the Russian Federal Assembly’s State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs and Olympic champion, Svetlana Zhurova, described the event as a festival of culture of the participating countries in the first turn. “This is a genuine manifestation of friendship. We learn about the life of a country from the goods displayed here. Most importantly, the event has a soul, considering that all the money raised here will be spent on good deeds. This is a perfect example of holding a beautiful event and being kind to the needy,” Zhurova said.
More than 50 countries presented their national souvenirs and Christmas gifts at the Bazaar.
Bazaar visitors had a chance to surprise their close family and friends with remarkable gifts from all over the world. Belgium offered traditional chocolates and candy, Bulgaria – a variety of rose oil products, the stand of India amazed guests with Mehndi Henna designs, Colombia offered guests its world-famed coffee, traditional cashmere products were displayed by Mongolia, while the Czech Republic presented legendary crystal products.  Everyone could try on a kimono and familiarize oneself with the origami technique at the stand of Japan.
Visitors were very enthusiastic about goods from Argentina, Belarus, Hungary, Vietnam, Egypt, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Cameroon, China, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Malaysia, Moldova, Nepal, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, Romania, Syria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tanzania, and other countries.
The GlavUpDK Cultural Center presented Russian handicraft and intricate New Year toys.
The food court treated visitors to food and drinks of traditional European and exotic Indian, Chinese, Malaysian, and Nepalese cuisine.
Visitors of the Bazaar viewed folk art performances by musicians, singers and dancers.
There was a charity lottery for guests. The GlavUpDK affiliates, the Moscow Country Club, the Zavidovo Recreation Complex, and Medincenter, contributed their prizes – service certificates.
All the money raised will be spent on charity projects of the International Women’s Club in Moscow and Russian regions.
