Cultural Center of GlavUpDK under MFA of Russia hosts reception marking Aivazovsky’s 200th birth anniversary
The Cultural Center of GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia has given a reception for the diplomatic corps on the occasion of the 200th birth anniversary of celebrated Russian marine artist Ivan Aivazovsky.
The event was organized by the Republic of Crimea’s Permanent Mission to the Russian President, the Business and Cultural Center of the Republic of Crimea, and GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia.
The audience was greeted by Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian President Georgy Muradov, Armenian Ambassador Vardan Toghanyan, and Director of the Public Relations Directorate of GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia Svetlana Chumikova. Russia’s Merited Actor Euclid Kyurdzidis hosted the event.
“Culture plays a special role in the rapprochement between people, the harmonization of inter-ethnic relations, and the provision of international stability. It brings people closer together and smooths over sharp angles of history. Creative works by Ivan Aivazovsky are a proof of that,” Toghanyan said.
Muradov conveyed gratitude of Crimea Head Sergei Aksyonov and Crimean residents to the meeting organizers and indicated its special importance amongst a series of cultural events commemorating the birth anniversary of the remarkable master.
The audience was very enthusiastic about the speech by Russian Merited Cultural Worker and employee of the Tretyakov Gallery Galina Churak on the personality and works of the artist.
Media Congress President and director Ashot Dzhazoyan presented his project of an Armenian-Russian documentary titled ‘I, Aivazovsky, born in Crimea’ and told the audience about the documentary’s filming in the native town of the artist.
Young talents from the New Names Inter-Regional Charity Fund named after I.N. Voronova treated the audience to a virtuoso performance of M.I. Glinka’s works.
The speech by Aivazovsky’s great-granddaughter, Olga Artseulova, was a pleasant surprise. She shared childhood memories of her father, who spent hours in Aivazovsky’s workshop watching him paint.
The audience was invited to see reproductions of Aivazovsky’s paintings and taste Crimean wine.
