Belgian team chooses Moscow Country Club for staying during 2018 FIFA World Cup

A press conference of Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Russia Jean Arthur Regibeau, GlavUpDK Head Alexey Izotov, Olympic Champion, World Record Holder, Absolute Soviet Champion, and member of the Central Board of the Russian Union of Athletes Lyudmila Titova, head of the Krasnogorsk urban district administration in the Moscow region Radiy Khabirov, and Moscow Country Club Director Andrey Dukhovny has taken place at the Moscow Country Club on the sidelines of the XVIII Winter Diplomatic Games.

The country club’s preparations for accommodating the Belgian national team during the FIFA World Cup were an issue covered by the press conference.

Jean Arthur Regibeau said in response to media questions that the Belgian national team would be staying at the Moscow Country Club for several weeks in summer 2018. According to him, GlavUpDK has expressed readiness to offer all necessary facilities for the Belgian national team and has met every request of the Belgian side. “The contract has been signed, and I can tell you that the national team will arrive in late May,” the ambassador said in conclusion.

He noted that the Moscow Country Club would become a base camp of Belgian footballers and added that the team would be playing in Sochi, Moscow, and Kaliningrad.

Moscow Country Club Director Andrey Dukhovny told the press conference about the recreation complex’s development plans and measures which would make the footballers feel themselves at home in Nakhabino.

“We are very much honored that the Belgian national team has chosen to stay at the Moscow Country Club during the FIFA World Cup. We will do our best to make the footballers’ stay maximally comfortable,” he said.

The hotel will be redecorated to accommodate the team’s wish. Interiors will be decorated in the Belgian style, and the restaurants will update their menu and add Belgian cuisine dishes to create comfort and coziness for the Belgian footballers.

New training gear and equipment will be installed in the sports complex, and working hours will be extended for the team’s convenience.

“Of course, we will bolster security to fully meet the requirements set by the Belgian national football team. The staff will receive additional training,” Dukhovny said.

“We are proud that our district houses such a complex as the Moscow Country Club. It is not just a wonderful vacation spot but also a partner of ours. We would like to carry on our cooperation and wish sustainable development to the Moscow Country Club,” Radiy Khabirov said at the press conference.
