The Main Administration for Service to the Diplomatic Corps (GlavUpDK) under the MFA of Russia presents a new immersive AR and VR performance inviting to take a virtual journey around Fyodor Schechtel’s Mansion. The app is now available for download on RuStore, Google Play and AppStore.
The project continues GlavUpDK’s effort to raise awareness about the cultural heritage sites under its management and follows the previously presented performance Inside the Mansion inspired by Zinaida Morozova’s Mansion.
Irina Maslova, Deputy Director of GlavUpDK Press Service and Information Department, spoke about the new project at the roundtable discussion Cultural Heritage Sites and Contemporary Art at PROrestoration Expo run by the Moscow Government. The new performance exemplifies the successful integration of technology into heritage preservation having opened the virtual doors of Moscow's most striking Art Nouveau landmarks for users worldwide.
It is in fact a story of restoration student Styopa and his AI assistant named Glasha, who help Professor Vladimir Ilyin uncover the centuries-old secrets of the mansion. The performance’s seven interactive scenes will give insight into the mansion's architecture and remarkable decorations. Users will view the building both before and during restoration and will also help the characters find items related to its history.
In addition to the performance, GlavUpDK, in collaboration with Shchusev Museum of Architecture, the Hungarian Cultural Center and Vitaly Kalashnikov, a licensed guide, Moscow expert and historian, is offering an insight into Moscow’s architectural heritage by means of educational walking tours along the capital’s streets. The Audio Guide section features five walking routes, namely, The Heart of Diplomatic Moscow, Pearls of Povarskaya Sloboda, In the Footsteps of the Capital's Past: From Spasopeskovsky to Leontyevsky Pereuloks, Near Aristocratic Ostozhenka Street, and Treasures of the Patriarch's Ponds, which were developed and recorded by the Museum of Architecture; Vitaly Kalashnikov will also talk about some of the mansions.
