Orphans take educational and sightseeing tour to St. Petersburg with GlavUpDK support

Orphans from Chicherin Family and Children Center (Karaul Village, Tambov Region), Tutaev Social Rehabilitation Center for Minors (Tutaev, Yaroslavl Region) and Diveyevo Boarding School (Nizhny Novgorod Region) visited Saint Petersburg to enjoy its attractions and learn interesting facts.
This social campaign created to help children in difficult life situations was supported by GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia and the MFA Representative Office in St. Petersburg. This tour was a continuation of the initiative that started last year, when the children visited Moscow. This time, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the children had the opportunity to learn about the history and culture of the Northern capital.
During the 7-day visit, the teenagers explored the city's tourist attractions, including the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, the Peter and Paul Fortress, the Nakhimov Naval School, the Museum of the Defense and Siege of Leningrad, the Central Naval Museum and the Alexander Palace in Tsarskoye Selo.
The visit to the Grand Maket Rossiya where they “traveled” across the country’s vast expanses, from the Far Eastern borders to the “amber” coast of the Baltic Sea, was really breathtaking and inspiring. The tour around the Hermitage, the world’s largest museum complex, was amazing, too.
After the cultural program, they went to Gazprom Arena to watch a football match between Zenit and Rubin. Before the game, the orphans were given a tour of the stadium to see the press center, go down to the area under the stands and even find themselves right in front of the field.
The eventful trip ended with a visit to the Representative Office of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in St. Petersburg where the teenagers were told about the work of the diplomatic corps in our country.
