Moscow to host 19th Winter Diplomatic Games

The 19th Winter Diplomatic Games will take place at the Moscow Country Club, an affiliate of GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia, on February 16.

The event will draw together heads and employees of diplomatic missions accredited in Russia, representatives of the MFA of Russia and veterans’ organizations of the ministry, the heads of GlavUpDK and the Krasnogorsk city district of the Moscow region, acclaimed Russian athletes, and cultural figures.

State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee First Deputy Chairperson and Olympic Champion Svetlana Zhurova, fencer and Olympic Champion Sofia Velikaya, and legendary Soviet fencer and Olympic Champion Galina Gorokhova are expected to watch the competitions.

About 40 teams of diplomatic missions are due to compete in biathlon, cross-country skiing, table tennis, Russian billiard, and mini-football events.

Traditionally, the Moscow Country Club will invite its guests to an interesting cultural program and tasting of Russian cuisine.

The games’ opening ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on February 16.

There will be a shuttle bus service between the Tushino metro station and the Moscow Country Club for the press. The admission is by journalist ids (for representatives of Russian media outlets) and accreditation cards (for representatives of foreign media outlets).
