GlavUpDK launches website “Cultural Heritage Sites”

The new thematic website of the Main Administration entitled “Cultural Heritage Sites” provides access to masterpieces of internationally acclaimed masters: Fyodor Schechtel, Lev Kekushev, William Walcott, and others, and remarkable samples of neo-Baroque, neo-Classical, neo-Gothic, and eclectic styles, and the golden age of Russian Art Nouveau.

The website section “Virtual Tours” offers mansion tours. 3D tours tell the stories of buildings and their owners and vividly demonstrate expressive interiors and decorations. The Main Department has created eight tours of cultural heritage sites, jewels of Moscow’s architecture.

The website takes visitors on a tour of the Reception House of the MFA of Russia in Spiridonovka Street, the Korobkova Mansion in Pyatnitskaya Street, and the Schechtel Mansion in Yermolayevsky Lane, which currently accommodates the residence of the Ambassador of Uruguay.

The section “Retrospective” presents archive photos of mansions and their current looks.

Rare illustrated editions, such as “Ambassadorial Moscow,” “Mansions of Moscow,” and “Mansion. Revival of Masterpiece,” published at the Main Administration’s initiative, are also available on the website.

NB:

GlavUpDK operates over 150 Moscow mansions, most of which are cultural heritage sites. Many mansions accommodate foreign embassies.

Historical buildings are maintained and operated in strict compliance with Russian laws on the protection of cultural heritage sites under the supervision of government agencies for the protection of monuments.

GlavUpDK is a laureate of many contests of the Moscow government for the best project of preservation and popularization of cultural heritage sites, “Moscow Restoration,” in the nomination of the best organizer of repairs and restoration works. In August 2014, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin thanked the GlavUpDK collective for its vast contribution to the preservation of Moscow cultural heritage sites.
