The Days of Historical and Cultural Heritage event took place in the Russian capital for the 26th time. Traditionally, this series of events organized by the Moscow Department of Cultural Heritage was also supported by GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia.

This year, it took place from April 18 to May 31 under the motto “Heritage around Us.” Lovers of architecture got a chance to visit the most beautiful mansions in Moscow, many of which are used by foreign diplomatic missions stationed in Moscow.

For the Days of Historical and Cultural Heritage, Muscovites were offered tours around the embassies of Argentina (72 Bolshaya Ordynka), Armenia (2 Armyansky Lane), Belarus (17/6 Maroseyka), Belgium (15 Khlebny Lane), Brazil (54 Bolshaya Nikitskaya), the Apostolic Nunciature (7 Vadkovsky Lane), Qatar (10 Leontyevsky Lane), Pakistan (21 Khlebny Lane). The Nosenkov – Balin mansion on Povarskaya Street, now housing the Hungarian Cultural Center, was included into the Days of Historical and Cultural Heritage program for the first time.

GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia expresses its sincere gratitude to the diplomatic missions for the opportunity to organize tours and for the comprehensive assistance they have provided.

In the course of the events, Muscovites and tourists were also welcomed to take part in cultural and awareness campaigns: go on interactive walking tours around the city, try their hand at a knowledge dictation, or even take a photo tour. Children were offered hands-on restoration workshop sessions, where they could learn about the painstaking process of restoring the buildings to their historical appearance.

Such workshops were set up by GlavUpDK as well; their graduates received their diplomas in the Zinaida Morozova’s Mansion (link to the news).

You can admire the Company mansions' interiors any day thanks to modern technologies on the Cultural Heritage Sites webpage. On top of that, smartphone users can download mobile apps like Inside the Mansion and Schechtel's Mansion that make it possible to have an inside look into the Reception House of the MFA of Russia (17 Spiridonovka St.) and the mansion at 28 Ermolayevsky Lane.

Photos were made during tours around the Brazilian and Pakistani embassies.
