October 29, the Cultural Center hosted a gala concert of classical music stars dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the United Nations (UN). The event was organized by the Association of Tchaikovsky International Competition Laureates, the Main Administration for Service to the Diplomatic Corps (GlavUpDK) under the MFA of Russia, and the Diplomatic Service Veterans Foundation.
The ceremony was attended by senior diplomats, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Russia, and the media.
It was opened by Vladimir Chkhikvadze, Director of the Diplomatic Service Veterans Foundation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation. “We more often turn to culture as a source of unification and mutual understanding. Music touches the hearts of people regardless of their ethnicity, political views or religious beliefs. Music diplomacy is an investment in openness and future based on mutual respect for human dignity,” he said.
Welcoming remarks were also delivered by Kirill Logvinov, Director of the MFA Department of International Organizations, Vladimir Kuznetsov, Director of the UN Information Center, and Alexey Borisov, Vice President of the World Federation of United Nations Associations.
The official agenda was followed by a rich concert program, including music of the world’s most renowned composers, which was performed by winners of Tchaikovsky International Competition. The event culminated with a performance by Gaik Kazazian, a violinist and soloist of the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic.
