VTB Russian Open Golf Championship (Senior) will be the only international professional golf tournament held in Russia in 2018.
The event is organized by the Moscow Country Club, the largest golf club in Russia. A professional 18-hole golf field of 7,174 yards was built in the early 1990s and harmoniously combined the remarkable landscape with international standards. The golf field was built by the exclusive design of the U.S. architectural dynasty of Trent Jones and is deemed to be one of the best in Europe.
The Russia Open tournament was founded in 1993. The first tournament was held at the Moscow Country Club.
This is the third time the club will host the Senior stage of the European Tournament (the previous events took place in 2013 and 2014).
“There is no doubt that the Moscow Country Club, an upscale golf resort and an acclaimed tournament venue, will doubtlessly appear to us in all splendor. We, Staysure Tour, are glad to come back to Russia for the first time since 2014: we seek to broaden game opportunities and organize exciting trips for top-notch golfers. I am grateful to GlavUpDK and the Moscow Country Club for enabling the athletes to visit not just the world-class golf resort but also the historic city of Moscow. I’d also like to thank PJSC VTB Bank, the titular sponsor of the tournament, which would not have happened without its support,” Staysure Tour head David McLaren said in his greetings.
The tournament traditionally attracts keen attention of golf fans due to the participation of professional golfers who won international fame with their professional career in U.S. and European tournaments and Ryder Cup.
PJSC VTB Bank is the titular sponsor of the tournament.
