Presentation of Secrets of Embassy Mansions. Stories from the Most Closely Guarded Houses in Moscow

GlavUpDK presents its first attempt at historical documentaries: Secrets of Embassy Mansions. Stories from the Most Closely Guarded Houses in Moscow. This book was written by Vitaly Kalashnikov, a professional historian, journalist, historian of Moscow, and licensed guide. The book was published by Eksmo under the Bombora brand, a Russian non-fiction publishing leader.

The book will hit the stores and marketplaces shortly, with an audio version being planned for later.

It focuses on 16 Moscow mansions, veritable jewels of architecture, managed by GlavUpDK. In a fun and engaging manner, Vitaly Kalashnikov reveals the unique fates of their owners and architects, their entanglements, and memorable events of ages past. Architectural features of the mansions, their stylistic and novel engineering solutions of the time brought to life by the most talented of architects: Fyodor Schechtel, Lev Kekushev, William Walcot, etc., are points of special focus.  Readers will also learn about the recent restoration efforts undertaken by GlavUpDK in order to preserve the historical appearance of those architectural landmarks.

The book was presented at the non/fictio№ International Book Fair for Quality Fiction and Non-Fiction taking place in Gostiny Dvor on April 9 – 12. Visitors were the first to be introduced to the book at the Bombora stand and talk to its creators in the course of the public discussion titled “Secrets of Embassy Mansions: Why Are They Hidden and How to Get Inside?”.

Vitaly Kalashnikov, chief architect of the GlavUpDK Chief Architect Service Aleksey Ochnev, and Deputy Director of the Press Service and Information Department of GlavUpDK Irina Maslova shed light on the most exciting secrets found in the book. Guests were very enthusiastic with their questions.

The event concluded with Vitaly Kalashnikov's book-signing session.
