On January 20, 2017, the Cultural Center of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s GlavUpDK held the opening ceremony of the exhibition “The Holocaust: Destruction, Liberation, Salvation”, organized by the Government of Moscow, the Russian Jewish Congress and the Holocaust Center. The event officially launched the Remembrance Week, timed to International Holocaust Remembrance Day marked on January 27 and the 72nd anniversary of liberation of the prisoners of the World War II German Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz (Oswiecim) by Soviet soldiers.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the heads and staff members of diplomatic missions of European counties and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, Russian public figures, World War II veterans, former prisoners of the ghetto attended the exhibition opening ceremony.
