Nineteenth Summer Diplomatic Games to gather diplomatic corps members at Zavidovo Recreation Complex

The 19th Summer Diplomatic Games will take place at the Zavidovo Recreation Complex of GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia on August 26. Heads and employees of diplomatic missions and other foreign representative offices accredited in Russia will participate in the event.

The Summer Diplomatic Games are a good tradition; they annually attract keen attention of the diplomatic community, sports organizations and the public.

This year’s Diplomatic Games are timed to coincide with the 96th anniversary of GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia and the 60th anniversary of the Zavidovo Recreation Complex, a traditional holiday destination of diplomats in the Moscow region.

The Russian Foreign Ministry’s leadership, representatives of the Russian Olympic Committee, and Heads of GlavUpDK and the Tver region Administration are due to attend the event. Traditionally, the Games’ opening ceremony will involve First Deputy Chairperson of the State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee and Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova and merited master of sports, Olympic champion, world champion, absolute Soviet champion and board member of the Russian Union of Athletes Lyudmila Titova.

The complex will play host to eight tournaments: cross-country race, mini-football, volleyball, basketball, shooting, fishing, billiards and tennis. About 40 teams of diplomatic missions will compete under national flags. The judges will include merited masters of sport and Olympic, world and European champions.

The Kalutsky Brothers, who set multiple Guinness world records and won the ‘Minute of Glory’ international contest, will present their sports show.

The Summer Diplomatic Games annually attract numerous Russian and foreign journalists.

A press conference of Alexei Izotov, Head of GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia, members of the diplomatic sport teams, and acclaimed athletes, will be given in the end.

We are inviting mass and social media representatives to cover the event.
