Façade of Spanish Ambassador’s residence restored

GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia has finalized repair and restoration works in the A.G. Shchepochkina - N.A. Lvov mansion at bld. 1, 8, Spasopeskovsky Side-Street. The building erected in the early 19th century currently accommodates the residence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain.

Architects and restorers of GlavUpDK and specialized organizations restored the building’s façade, the fence, and the main gate. The specialists restored the mansion, which is a cultural heritage site, to its original looks. The works started in 2016.

The building’s basement was rebuilt and clad with granite; a number of architectural decorations of the façade, including the entrances and door assemblies, as well as canopies were restored, and a glazed garden door was installed.

The historical gate and a part of the fence between the main manor and the outbuilding were also restored, alongside the historical part of the metal fence.

The restoration project was developed consistent with the Federal Law “On Cultural Heritage Sites (History and Culture Monuments) of Peoples of the Russian Federation.” It was approved by the state historical and cultural commission and coordinated with the Moscow Cultural Heritage Department.

GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia operates more than 150 mansions in Moscow, most of which are cultural heritage sites. Many of those buildings accommodate foreign embassies.

Historical buildings are maintained and operated in strict compliance with the requirements set by Russian laws to the protection of immovable cultural heritage sites under control of government agencies supervising the protection of monuments.

GlavUpDK has won many contests of the Moscow government for the best project of preservation and popularization of cultural heritage sites, “Moscow Restoration,” as the best organizer of repair and reconstruction works. In August 2014, the GlavUpDK collective was thanked by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin for the large contribution to the preservation of Moscow cultural heritage sites.
