Literary Salon: Ambassadors of Russian Culture highlights personality of Alexander Pushkin

The 3rd meeting of the literature and music series Literary Salon: Ambassadors of Russian Culture was held at the House of Reception of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Organized by GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia together with the State Museum of the History of Russian Literature named after V. I. Dal, the event brought together representatives of the foreign diplomatic corps accredited in the Russian Federation

to discuss the civil service of Alexander Pushkin in the Collegium of Foreign Affairs.

On behalf of and by order of Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, the evening was opened by Deputy Minister Alexander Grushko, who read lines from Pushkin’s poem The Borodino Anniversary.

Dmitry Bak, Director of the State Literary Museum, acted as a guide through Pushkin’s biography telling about the poet’s fate, his creative path, his public and diplomatic service.

The attendees also enjoyed an exhibition of unique Pushkin relics from the collections of the Literary Museum, Pushkin Museum (St. Petersburg) and the History and Documentary Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The exhibition also featured memorial items, including an authentic vest that used to belong to the poet.

The cultural program was complemented by the literary show “My friend, let us dedicate the beautiful impulses of our souls to our fatherland!”, which was performed by People’s Artist of Russia Evgeny Knyazev. The hosts also presented a bust of Alexander Pushkin by sculptor Grigory Pototsky.

This cultural and educational project, organized by GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia in partnership with the State Museum of the History of Russian Literature named after V. I. Dal, is designed for foreign diplomatic corps to gain insight into the heritage of Russian writers, understand the beauty of the Russian language and strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties.
